Manly Observer Newspaper, 2025

Brief: Collaborate with Manly Observer to produce a new print newspaper that would reach audiences beyond social media, increase email subscriptions and drive app downloads. This project was particularly challenging as it was my first experience with newspaper design and print production. As Art Director, I worked closely with journalists, the subeditor, production and advertising teams to bring all elements together and ensure the paper was fully print-ready.

Developing the publication template with the subeditor required learning and applying the technical and editorial standards of newspaper design, including layout structure, grammar consistency and production requirements. Despite the steep learning curve, we successfully produced the first issue within three months.

In addition to the overall design direction, I created one of the advertisements and for the website, designed the distribution map and puzzle page, as well as developed a digital flip-through and downloadable version of the paper.
